What designers are rarely told - and what we can do differently.
Insider Insight challenges common assumptions in materials, sustainability, and specification. It exposes overlooked risks, incomplete narratives, and greenwashed claims - offering designers and decision-makers clearer questions to ask and deeper context to consider. The focus is not on trends, but on truth, transparency, and long-term consequences.
THE HIDDEN COST OF COLOR
Textile bleaching, dyeing, finishing, and tanning are among the most water-intensive processes in design. Toxic runoff from these processes contaminates drinking water, damages ecosystems, and disproportionately impacts surrounding communities. These impacts occur far from the final project site.
END-OF-LIFE IS A DESIGN DECISION
What happens to materials after use is determined during specification. Without planning, material disposal defaults to landfill. End-of-life is rarely visible in design narratives, yet it defines true impact.
This is a living system. It will grow deliberately.
