THE LIFE OF COLOUR

Before we name a colour, we experience it. Before we decide whether we like it, our bodies have already responded to the light, contrast, temperature, and atmosphere surrounding it. Color can draw attention, establish hierarchy, signal danger, communicate belonging, stimulate appetite, support concentration, or create a sense of rest. It can also carry memory: the particular blue of a childhood bedroom, the ochre of a landscape, the green of a garden after rain.
